surprising
This was surprisingly sensitive, sometimes sweet, sometimes sad, sometimes upsetting. The acting was amazing. I actually liked it a lot even though i wasn't expecting to.

Eye Opening Experience!!
"Blue Valentine" is about the evolution of a couple Dean (Ryan Gosling) and Cindy (Michelle Williams) from the time they meet, the courtship, the marriage and then the marriage falling apart. The story is told in past and present tense. There is one final attempt to save their marriage when they go away for some "alone" time.
Dean and Cindy's story was very real life, not sugar-coated, often times sad and depressing. A real eye opening experience.

blue valentine
Very honest and effective movie, with fantastic acting, particularly in the female lead. So difficult to watch at times, because it was painfully accurate relationship-wise. Tough ending, but unique in that it compelled this viewer to approach exisiting relationships with fresh and grateful eyes. Great movie, good medicine, bitter pill...

Dark Relationship Movie
I though this movie was very good. I like movies that depict the struggles that couples go through. It reminded me of Leaving Las Vegas at times.

Blue Valentine
Not just a "chick flick" - but an emotionally challenging glimpse of how dysfunctional relationships can become when two people grow at different rates.

Life Isn't All Happy Endings
When I saw the preview for this movie, I thought "Chick Flick". But after seeing the that it got really high reviews by both critics and fans alike, I was intrigued. It definitely wasn't the movie I was expecting. It was two stories intertwined into one. The beginning of a marriage and the end of one. It was gripping, happy, and sad all at once. Good acting and good writing. It was a reminder that not everything in life has a happy ending. It wasn't what I was wanting to see at the time, but I wasn't going to let that affect what I thought about the movie. The story still hit home for me and I am sure many people.

Totally Stressed Us Out!
I go to movies to be entertained and relax. This movie did neither. Watching two goofy people meet, fall in love or lust and then implode, is not fun. I went with my husband and his sister and after it was over we all looked at each other and went "what the heck was that?" This is not an uplifting move at all. Very depressing and the argument scenes really stressed me out! I wish we had not spent the money we spent to see it.
