NICOLAS CAGE SETTLES LAWSUIT WITH U.K. JOURNALISTS

Tuesday, October 02, 2012 - Actor Nicolas Cage has settled his lawsuit with editors at U.K. publication The Daily Mail over a false online story about his alleged tax troubles.

The Ghost Rider star accused journalists at the MailOnline of tarnishing his reputation by reporting he was behind on his taxes in an article uploaded last month (Sep12).

Both parties have reached a settlement, with the actor receiving a story retraction, a proper apology, and a sum of undisclosed damages.

Cage's lawyer Paul Tweed tells Bbc News, "My client has secured a complete vindication of his reputation following the publication of a categoric retraction by the MailOnline for what they immediately acknowledged was

a completely unfounded and defamatory allegation of tax evasion... He nonetheless remains very concerned that such a false and outrageous headline should have been published in the first place."
