ROBERT DE NIRO TO SUE OVER APARTMENT FIRE

Thursday, October 04, 2012 - Robert De Niro is reportedly preparing to take legal action against a security firm over allegations a system in place at his New York home may have sparked a fire at the apartment.

The Raging Bull star's Manhattan home was damaged by a blaze in June (12) and firefighters initially blamed a build-up of lint in his clothes dryer for the accident.

However, new court papers, obtained by the New York Post, suggest the flames could have been started by a camera or intercom system, and bosses at a security company are preparing to defend themselves over possible legal action.

Executives at Metro Security Communications have filed papers at Manhattan Supreme Court asking for copies of fire department and police calls and incident reports because "it is expected that a property damage action

will be initiated by Mr. De Niro".

The company did not install the devices for De Niro, but recently reprogrammed the system.
