MERYL STREEP WRITES POEM FOR COSTUME DESIGNER TRIBUTE

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - Meryl Streep honoured Hollywood costume designer Ann Roth by reading out a special poem written in her honor during a star-studded tribute at the

Hamptons Film Festival in New York.

The Sophie's Choice star was among the guests at East Hampton's Guild Hall for a tribute to Oscar-winning designer Roth, who worked with Streep on numerous films including Mama Mia!, Julie & Julia, Doubt and The Hours.

The tribute was kicked off by funnyman Nathan Lane, who worked with Roth on 1996 movie The Birdcage, and director Mike Nichols, before Streep made a surprise appearance onstage.

The actress feted Roth for her work and even read out a special poem, titled Ode to Ann, which she had written in the designer's honour.
