NOOMI RAPACE AVOIDED ADOPTING COLIN FARRELL'S ACCENT

Wednesday, November 14, 2012 - Swedish actress Noomi Rapace distanced herself from co-star Colin Farrell

on the set of Dead Man Down to avoid picking up his Irish accent.

Rapace, who only began learning to speak English in 2009, admits she needed regular breaks away from Farrell because she was mimicking his speech while they were working on the crime thriller this summer .

She tells London's Evening Standard, "I didn't speak a word of English (until three years ago) and never had a dialect coach or anything. I just

watched a lot of TV and tried to pick it up from there. But I do have to

work on my accent, I pick up a lot of strange ones. When I was working with Colin Farrell and was talking to him, I really had to go and clear my

head otherwise I'd sound like an Irishman."

Rapace, who is best known for playing Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie trilogy, insists her English has improved significantly since moving to London.

She adds, "I shot two films here recently and just fell in love with the city, it's so beautiful here. And it makes sense for me because I work here a lot, and it's closer to L.a. (than Sweden is)."
