FINAL TWILIGHT MOVIE IS FRANCHISE'S BIGGEST OPENER

Sunday, November 18, 2012 - The final TWILIGHT movie scored the franchise's best opening worldwide over the weekend, with a $340.9 million (=C2£213,000) haul.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 topped the worldwide weekend box office and raked in $141.3 million (=C2£88.3 million) in the U.S. alone.

The film opened in 4,070 cinemas across America on Thursday night (15Nov12), but missed out on a U.S. franchise best by just $1.5 million (=C2£938,000) - The Twilight Saga: New Moon opened with $142.8 million (=C2£89.3 million) in 2009.

Meanwhile, Skyfall became the top-grossing Bond movie of all time over the weekend after blasting past $669 million (=C2£418 million) at the international box office. The Sam Mendes film has raked in $161.3 million (=C2£100.8 million) in America alone in just 10 days.
