TOP GUN FLYING BACK TO CINEMAS IN 3D

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 - Tom Cruise is jetting back onto the big screen in a 3D update of his hit film Top Gun.

The 1986 classic helped make Cruise a superstar and raked in more $353 million (=C2£220 million) at the box office.

Now bosses at Paramount studio have announced the film has been digitally remastered and will be released in 3D in February .

The update was overseen by tragic director Tony Scott, who committed suicide by jumping to his death from a bridge in California in August .

A Top Gun sequel has been put on hold following Scott's death out of respect for the filmmaker's legacy.
