JILLY COOPER'S WORK HEADING TO THE WEST END
Friday, January 18, 2013 - Famed British author Jilly Cooper is heading to the West End as work begins
to turn one of her books into a musical.
Cooper, who is best known for writing saucy tales of erotic fiction, has revealed her 1976 novel Harriet will be adapted for the stage by Eva Rice, daughter of theater composer Sir Tim Rice.
She tells Britain's Daily Telegraph, "It is the biggest compliment anyone
has ever given me... This is the first musical to be based on one of my books... I am so thrilled. It is Tim Rice's daughter, so I am sure it will be
fantastic."
Cooper has even picked out her ideal leading man - she wants The Wire star Dominic West to join the cast. She adds, "I think Dominic West would be divine."
