BBC BROADCASTER STUART HALL ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH RAPE
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 - British broadcaster Stuart Hall has been charged with rape and indecent assault.
The 83-year-old BBC regular was arrested on Tuesday (22Jan13) after turning himself in to Lancashire Police in England.
He was booked on one offense of rape dating back to 1976 and 14 offences of indecent assault on 10 girls aged between nine and 16, alleged to have taken place between 1967 and 1986.
Hall will appear before magistrates in Preston, England on 7 February (13).
A police statement reads: "Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service an 83-year-old man has this evening been charged with one offence of rape and 14 offences of indecent assault."
Hall pled not guilty to three charges of indecent assault when he appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court earlier this month (Jan13).
His arrest is the latest black eye for the BBC following the Jimmy Savile
sex abuse scandal; the late TV and radio personality has been accused to sexually abusing 450 victims, including 30 children.
