KEVIN BACON TURNS TV SET GREEN
Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - Movie star Kevin Bacon insisted on turning the set for his new TV drama The
FOLLOWING into an all green space after working with solar power on the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love.
The Footloose star gifted cast and crew with aluminum water bottles at the start of filming, so no one would need to use plastic bottles - and his environmental efforts inspired producers to go green.
He tells Wenn, "we don't have any bottles of water on the set. We have coolers. We have compostable dishes and silverware."
And he's convinced Hollywood is getting more eco-responsible: "I worked on a film in L.A. called Crazy, Stupid, Love which actually had something really cool; a giant truck with a solar panel that powered the entire base camp. They called it the mothership.
"It hydraulically folded down these giant panels which is great in southern California; I don't know if in Brooklyn (New York), on The Following, we
would be as successful, since so much of this show is shot at night!"
