RALPH ZIMAN TO DIRECT KITE FOLLOWING DAVID R. ELLIS' DEATH
Monday, February 4, 2013 - South African filmmaker Ralph Ziman has signed up to oversee the live action remake of KITE following the death of his director pal David R. Ellis.
Ellis was found dead in his Johannesburg hotel room during pre-production
of the project on 7 January , throwing the planned reboot of Yasuomi Umetsu's 1998 Japanese anime film into question.
However, Ziman has now stepped in to work on the movie, according to Deadline.com.
The film follows India Eisley as Sawa, who tries to track down the killer
of her policeman father with the help of his former partner Karl Aker, played by Samuel L. J ackson - and the Pulp Fiction star is happy Ziman is now on board, so they can see out Ellis' vision.
Jackson says, "The zest and enthusiasm David Ellis had for this project led to my commitment to do it. That same commitment to David leads me to fulfil my obligation to see his dedication fulfilled."
