Friday, February 15, 2013 - W. Watts Biggers, the man behind beloved children's TV character UNDERDOG, has died at the age of 85.

The writer passed away at his home in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Sunday (10Feb13).

William Watts Biggers started his career in advertising, working on cartoons to promote breakfast cereals, and he helped create the famous canine superhero in the 1960s. He started his own TV company, writing scripts for a number of shows, including Underdog, which ran from 1964 until 1973. He later worked as a freelance writer and novelist.

Underdog was revived in a 2007 film featuring Jason Lee.
