LIFE OF PI IS MOST MISTAKE-FREE OSCAR-WORTHY MOVIE

Friday, February 22, 2013 - Ang Lee's Life Of Pi would be a clear winner for Best Picture at Sunday's (24Feb13) Oscars if the prizegiving was based on the least amount of movie errors.

Film fans at website MovieMistakes.com have poured over the leading contenders for the top award - and they've given the movie adaptation of Yann Martel's novel the thumbs up as the most blunder-free picture.

In fact, the experts only spotted one editing error in the film, compared

to 26 in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and 22 in Argo.

MovieMistakes.com editor Jon Sandys tells Wenn, "oscar nominees aren't normally too mistake-ridden, although this year's crop is a little bit more so than average.

"The visual effects nominees tend to have the most mistakes, possibly due

to their blockbuster nature... but given their budgets you'd hope they could avoid errors."

With Amour and Beasts of the Southern Wild discounted because the experts

feel both films don't stand a chance of winning the big prize, the other mistake-laden movies are Les Miserables with 15; Zero Dark Thirty with 12; Silver Linings Playbook with nine, and Lincoln, eight.

Sandys notes a handful of howlers, telling Wenn, "in Argo... Ben Affleck is supposedly in 1980, but he's wearing a Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller (watch), which wasn't released until 2008.

"Meanwhile, Django Unchained is based in 1858 and proceeds through the winter into the spring of 1859. At the end of the movie Django blows up (fictional slave plantation) Candyland using dynamite. Dynamite was not invented

by Alfred Nobel until 1864 and then patented in 1867. And in the scene where Schultz (Oscar nominee Christoph Waltz's character) shoots the sheriff, as he walks away he has blood on his hand and his jacket. The blood is gone

from both in the next shot and from then on.

"Another good example of a movie mistake comes in Les Miserables just before the wedding scene - you can see an earpiece in Cosette's (Amanda Seyfried's character) ear. And in Silver Linings Playbook the characters often wear jerseys from Philadelphia Eagles players. However, several of the jerseys are for players who were not yet on the team when the movie is set .."
