AMBER TAMBLYN'S BROADWAY DEBUT POSTPONED

Friday, February 22, 2013 - Actress Amber Tamblyn's Broadway debut in The Miss Firecracker Contest has been postponed indefinitely due to financial problems and casting issues.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star was set to make her bow in the

play this spring , as an orphan who strives to win her Mississippi town's annual talent show contest in an effort to boost her reputation.

But producer Larry Kaye tells the New York Times the production may now premiere in the autumn because he is $1 million (=C2£625,500) short in funding, and struggling with a scheduling conflict, which "stood in the way of getting our particular dream cast".

Kaye declined to elaborate on the actor or actress in question, but he did reveal he had been eyeing Parker Posey, who recently became unavailable after landing a development deal for a new TV pilot.

Beth Henley's comedy was first staged at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 1984 and was turned into a big screen adaptation starring Holly Hunter five years later.
