CANCER-STRICKEN VALERIE HARPER STEPS OUT AT KENTUCKY DERBY

Monday, May 06, 2013 - Terminally-ill cancer victim Valerie Harper put on a brave face over the weekend (04-05May13) by stepping out at America's most prestigious horse race, the Kentucky Derby.

The 73-year-old actress revealed in March she has just months to live after being diagnosed with incurable brain cancer, but she was all smiles

as she attended the Barnstable Brown Gala in Louisville with her husband Tony Cacciotti.

Harper posed for photos on the red carpet, and told People.com, "I'm feeling good. And I gained seven pounds - my doctors like that."

The former Mary Tyler Moore Show star also revealed she has been overwhelmed by support from fans after going public with her cancer diagnosis.

She added, "We said we need to get this out there, and we didn't want the

tabloids telling our story."

Singers Miranda Lambert and Lance Bass and Hollywood actor Armie Hammer also attended the 139th Kentucky Derby.
