BELOVED MOVIE AMELIE SET FOR THE NEW YORK STAGE

Friday, August 23, 2013 - Beloved French film AMELIE is to be reinvented as a Broadway musical.

Folk-rocker Dan Messe of Hem has teamed up with playwright Craig Lucas and lyricist Nathan Tysen to bring the 2001 film, starring Audrey Tautou, to the stage.

Announcing the news on Thursday (22Aug13), Messe wrote, "Not the best kept secret, but still I'm happy to announce that I've been commissioned to adapt the film Amelie for Broadway."

The movie original, which was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, was a huge hit just over a decade ago and picked up five Oscar nominations.
