ESCAPE FROM TALIBAN AUTHOR KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

Friday, September 6, 2013 - The author whose story inspired 2003 movie Escape From Taliban has been killed in Afghanistan.

Sushmita Banerjee, who detailed her escape from the country in her book A

Kabuliwala's Bengali Wife, was shot dead outside her home after recently moving back to the country to make a documentary.

The 49 year old died on Wednesday (04Sep13), but her body was not discovered until Thursday (05Sep13). Her husband was allegedly beaten and tied up inside the couple's home.

Banerjee's book became a bestseller in India and was turned into a successful Bollywood film, Escape from Taliban, in 2003.
