PRISONERS LOCKS DOWN TOP SPOT AT U.K. BOX OFFICE

Wednesday, October 09, 2013 - Hollywood thriller PRISONERS has kept custody of the top spot at the U.K. box office for a second weekend (04-06Oct13).

The movie, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, made an impressive $1.6 million (=C2£1.1 million) in ticket sales and raced ahead of James McAvoy's British crime/comedy drama Filth, which settled in second place after taking $1.2 million (=C2£842,167) in its opening weekend.

Another new release, Sunshine On Leith, came in at number three with $1.1

million (=C2£770,239), and Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine slipped to fourth with $1 million (=C2£724,693).

Racing movie Rush slipped from second to fifth, with $1 million (=C2£708,598) in ticket sales.
