MICHAEL SHEEN FUMES OVER HOMETOWN MURAL DEMOLITION
Sunday, October 20, 2013 - Actor Michael Sheen has voiced his anger after a mural in his Welsh hometown was demolished to pave the way for a new shopping centre.

In his open letter, Sheen wrote, "The vicious irony of something that was
created to celebrate those who risked much for the good of all, being wiped out without consulting the people themselves, and under the auspices of a
Labour led city council serving the needs of profit above all else, is both absurd as well as tragic.
"That so little was done, or was able to be done, by us, in order to stop
this from happening, brings shame to us all... The political system has let us down."
Council bosses claim they did not have the means to move or preserve the 115-foot (35-metre) mosaic before it was torn down earlier this month (Oct13).
Sheen has called for the community to find a new way to remember the movement, adding, "I hope we can make the Chartists proud."
