WOODY ALLEN'S LAWYER ATTACKS MIA FARROW OVER DAUGHTER'S ALLEGATIONS

Tuesday, February 04, 2014 - Woody Allen's lawyer took aim at the director's ex-wife Mia Farrow during a
live interview on TV Tuesday morning, as he continued to defend his client over renewed allegations of sexual abuse made by the for= mer couple's adopted daughter Dylan.

Dylan Farrow went public with her child abuse claims in a New York Times online column at the weekend, prompting Allen's representatives to shoot down her "tragic" and "disgraceful" allegations, which she had orig= inally made during her parents' bitter custody battle in 1992.

Police launched an investigation into the alleged incident at the time of her shocking revelation, but no charges were filed.

On Tuesday, Allen's lawyer, Elkan Abramowitz, appeared on breakfast show Today and took aim at Dylan's adoptive mother.

Admitting that Allen was hurt and saddened by the scandal, he insisted he didn't blame Dylan, stating, "She was a pawn in a huge fight between him a= nd Mia Farrow years ago, and the idea that she was molested was implanted i= n her by her mother. That memory is never going to go away. So the fact tha= t she says this now, that it happened 20 years ago, is totally understandable..."

Abramowitz added, "In my view, she's not lying. I think she truly believes this happened. That's what the vice of this is. When you implant a story in a fragile seven-year-old's mind, it stays there forever. It never goes away."

But Allen's lawyer claims the filmmaker is not seeking to sue over Dylan's allegations, which have resurfaced weeks after he was nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for his work on Blue Jasmine.

He says, "Woody Allen is not interested in suing anybody for defamation. He was determined not to have molested his daughter 20 years ago. The case is over. There is no case. The fact that it is being brought up now is suspect. The timing is suspect."

Abramowitz's interview aired shortly after Mia Farrow tweeted her support for Dylan online, writing, "I love my daughter. I will always protect her. A lot of ugliness is going to be aimed at me. But this is not about me, it's about her truth."
