MOVIETICKETS.COM ENHANCES WEB SITE
Re-Designed Web Site Offers Enriched "My MovieTickets" Membership Program Now Offering Broader Access to At Home Ticket Printing
(Boca Raton, FL and Hollywood, CA - June 28, 2001) – MovieTickets.com announced today that it has re-designed its web site, www.MovieTickets.com, enhancing its look and feel. The re-launched site provides moviegoers with the ability to purchase tickets with greater ease, as well as access local movie showtime information, trailers and reviews. MovieTickets.com sells tickets online for more movie screens across the United States and Canada than any other service.
The site now includes enhanced personalization for My MovieTickets. As members of My MovieTickets, consumers have expanded capabilities in customizing their ticket buying experience. For example, consumers are able to choose their favorite local theaters, which are displayed on most MovieTickets.com pages, allowing users to easily purchase their tickets with just a few clicks of the mouse every time they visit the site. Also, the Stryker family, stars of MovieTickets.com's marketing campaign, act as Web site guides, helping consumers with their movie ticket purchases.
In addition, MovieTickets.com is now offering at home ticket printing for many theater complexes and is rolling out this service nationally. By offering at home ticket printing, MovieTickets.com offers consumers the ability to proceed directly to theater ticket ushers and skip the box office altogether, making a night out at the movies even more convenient. In its initial phase, at home ticket printing has been widely embraced by consumers.
"Purchasing tickets online is becoming mainstream and ticket sales on MovieTickets.com are consistently breaking new records," said Mitchell Rubenstein, Co-Chairman of MovieTickets.com. "Our new site will serve as a valuable, simple resource that reflects the needs of our users at the local level. It is more user friendly, easier to navigate, and provides our users with the greater ability to customize the site based on their location. With at home ticket printing currently being rolled out, we are committed to increasing the convenience of going to the movies."
MovieTickets.com recently formed a strategic alliance with AOL whereby consumers will have national access to movie tickets on both Moviefone.com and MovieTickets.com through one-click access to the other site's ticketing inventory. Both sites will offer consumers online access to tickets for approximately 80% of North America's movie screens that currently offer Internet ticketing capability.
Purchasing tickets online is simple. Users click on www.MovieTickets.com, select a movie and showtime, and buy their tickets with a credit card. Then, they go to an automated ticketing machine or box office at the theater and pick up their tickets or, in some cases, simply print out the bar-encoded ticket and head straight to the ticket usher.
MovieTickets.com is a joint venture between Hollywood Media Corp. (Nasdaq: HOLL), AMC Entertainment (AMEX: AEN), National Amusements, Famous Players, Marcus Theatres (NYSE: MCS), Muvico Theaters, Hoyts Cinemas and Viacom (NYSE: VIA), offering the online sale of movie tickets with additional content to assist users with their movie-going plans. Purchasing tickets online through MovieTickets.com couldn't be easier. MovieTickets.com's Quick Checkout service allows users to register with the site and buy tickets online by simply entering an email address and password. MovieTickets.com sells tickets for top theater chains throughout the United States and Canada and participating MovieTickets.com theaters consistently represent over 60% of the top 50 grossing theaters on any given weekend.
Since Spring 2000, MovieTickets.com's ticket sales have exceeded 1.5 million tickets, offering consumers the ease and convenience of a virtual box office in their homes. Additionally, MovieTickets.com has recently begun to offer moviegoers the ability to print purchased tickets at home, as well as email tickets to friends and family members.
