'HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE' SURPASSES 'INDIANA JONES 4,' ENTERS MOVIETICKETS.COM TOP-25 ADVANCE TICKET SELLERS LIST

MovieTickets.com reports 'Half-Blood Prince' has sold out over 500 performances

(Los Angeles, CA - July 10, 2009) – “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” became one of the MovieTickets.com Top-25 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time on Friday morning, bumping “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” from the coveted list.

MovieTickets.com reports the film has already sold out over 500 performances worldwide, including over 300 midnight showings in the U.S. alone. It currently accounts for over 60 percent of ticket sales at MovieTickets.com and these numbers are expected to rise dramatically as the July 15 release date approaches.

In breaking into the Top-25, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” became the sixth Potter film to grace the list, joining the first five films in the franchise. “Half-Blood Prince” broke into the Top-25 five days prior to its release.

Harry Potter films in the MovieTickets.com Top-25 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time list include:

  • No. 2 “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”
  • No. 7 “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”
  • No. 14 “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”
  • No. 15 “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”
  • No. 16 “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”

“There is something to be said for a franchise that has every one of its releases firmly planted on our top sellers list,” said Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager for MovieTickets.com. “Breaking into the MovieTickets.com Top-25 wasn’t a matter of if, but when for this film – now it will be interesting to see how high it climbs.”
