Josh Brolin Locked in Feud With James Cameron Over Avatar Sequel Roles
Aug 10, 2017 by: WENN
Actor Josh Brolin has blasted director James Cameron after her allegedly called him insulting names for turning down a role in the upcoming Avatar sequels.
The veteran leading man is still incensed over his fall-out with the filmmaker, claiming Cameron went too far.
"If I don’t want to do Avatar, I’m not going to do Avatar," Brolin recalled of the tense negotiations with the director in a new interview with Esquire magazine.
"James Cameron’s f**king calling me this name and that name. Whatever. If Cameron came to me and said, ‘Hey man, why’d you say that?' I’d go, ‘Because it happened'."
Although his ongoing feud with Cameron, who plans to release four more installments of Avatar between 2020 and 2025, has yet to be resolved, Brolin is trying to stay positive about his career after recently landing the coveted role of Cable in the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel.
He'll be starring opposite leading man Ryan Reynolds in the next Marvel installment and he couldn't be feeling better about his professional prospects.
"I’m having more fun and I’m acting more than I ever have in my life," he gushed. "In the morning, it’s like I’ve taken half a cup of coffee and half a cup of liquid LSD and I’m tripping all day. And then there’s no consequence and I actually get paid for it.”
Deadpool 2 is currently filming and director David Leitch is delighted with Brolin's work so far.
"We couldn't have cast a better Cable," the filmmaker told Screen Rant last week. "We were filming last night and both of them (Josh and Ryan) were on set, and the chemistry is amazing. It's such a fun movie to be on. I'm really grateful."
Deadpool 2 hits theaters in June, 2018.
