Sylvester Stallone Hints Creed Sequel Will Shoot in 2018
Sep 5, 2017 by: WENN
Sylvester Stallone has indicated that Creed 2 will start shooting next year.
The movie will be a sequel to the 2015 Rocky spin-off directed by Ryan Coogler, which starred Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Johnson Creed, the son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), with Stallone reprising the role of Rocky Balboa from the famous boxing film series.
Now, it appears another instalment is in the works, with Stallone posting a photo of a shirtless Jordan in the gym last Friday.
"Getting stronger!!! 2018," the actor captioned the snap, adding the hashtags, #Creed 2 and #Rocky.
In response to the update, representatives for studio MGM did not confirm when Creed 2 would begin filming but told Variety the project remains in development.
The social media post marks Stallone's latest tease of the film; back in July he shared a photo of his notebook which he claimed to contain a completed draft of the script for the Creed sequel, and hinted that viewers may see the return of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the Soviet boxer from Rocky IV.
Creed grossed a worldwide total of $173.6 million, against a budget of $35 million. For his role, Stallone was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, his first Oscar nomination since the original Rocky film, and won the Golden Globe in the same category.
