Linda Hamilton Set to Return to The Terminator Franchise
Sep 20, 2017 by: WENN
Linda Hamilton is set to return to The Terminator universe.
The 60-year-old actress made her debut as Sarah Connor in 1984's The Terminator opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, who portrayed the titular android assassin, and reprized her role in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Following the announcement earlier this year that the franchise's creator, James Cameron, is to return to the sci-fi world, the filmmaker has now revealed that Hamilton will be joining him in his comeback, which is to be made by Paramount and Skydance.
"As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it's going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she's become return," Cameron said of Hamilton at a recent event held in honor of the movies, according to Deadline. "There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn't an example of that for women."
Cameron will be producing this time around, with Tim Miller set to direct the upcoming Untitled Terminator Reboot, with Schwarzenegger also lined-up to return, though fans will have to wait until 2019 to see the finished feature.
It's thought the project will be the first of a trilogy which aims to make each installment stand on its own as a single movie, as well as form an overall story arc. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Cameron and Miller have already set up a writer's room, with big names including Josh Friedman, the man behind TV spinoff series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
