Sep 20, 2017 by: WENN
Matt Damon has been cast as real-life conman John R. Brinkley in Charlatan.
The Jason Bourne star will also produce the movie about the doctor who tricked his patients into believing he had discovered a cure for impotence.
The project will reunite Damon with producer Kimberly Steward, who he worked with on Manchester by the Sea.
The film will be based on Pope Brock's book Charlatan: America's Most Dangerous Huckster, the Man Who Pursued Him, and the Age of Flimflam. Brian Koppelman and David Levien will adapt the screenplay, according to Variety.com.
Brinkley launched a medical clinic in 1918 in Kansas and started implanting goat testicles into his patients, claiming it would cure their impotence. He got rich, but was later accused of causing several deaths.
