Olivia Munn Replacing Zoe Saldana in Hummingbird
Oct 26, 2017 by: WENN
Olivia Munn has stepped in to replace Zoe Saldana in action-thriller Hummingbird.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star had to drop out of the film due to a scheduling issue with the Avatar sequels. Munn will take over the role of a black-ops assassin in the movie, which will be directed by Swedish duo Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom.
The story focuses on Munn's character finding out that she's more than just a hired gun, but an entirely new breed of weapon.
John McClain has penned the script, after Fundamental Films acquired the film rights in October 2016. Hummingbird was previously on Hollywood's infamous Black List; a list of the most-liked motion picture screenplays not yet produced.
Gary Glushon from Fundamental Films and Broken Road's Jeremy Stein will also act as executive producers, while Fundamental's Mark Gao and Gregory Ouanhon, along with Todd Garner from Broken Road, will be producing. Saldana will stay on as an executive producer, according to Deadline.
A release date has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Saldana has taken on a different new project, starring in a new short film for alcoholic liqueur Campari.
The Latina announced her involvement in the Campari Red Diaries 2018 campaign, which focuses on the pursuit of the perfect cocktail, in a post on Instagram on Wednesday.
"Thrilled to announce my role in the new Campari Red Diaries movie, The Legend of Red Hand," she captioned a photo of herself onset.
The mini-movie co-stars Italian actor Adriano Giannini and is directed by Stefano Sollima.
