Angelina Jolie's 'First They Killed My Father' Wins First Big Award

Angelina Jolie and author Loung Ung will receive the Foreign Language Film Award at the upcoming Hollywood Film Awards for their movie First They Killed My Father.

The two adapted the hard-hitting movie about Ung's upbringing in Cambodia from her book of the same name, and Angelina directed the movie, which has won acclaim at a series of film festivals.

The Hollywood Film Awards, which take place on Sunday, officially kick off awards season.

First They Killed My Father has also been selected as Cambodia's Oscar submission for Best Foreign Language Film.

Earlier this week, Jolie and Ung accepted the Rising Star Award on behalf of First They Killed My Father star Sreymoch Sareum at the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Sareum portrayed Ung in the film.
