Dexter Fletcher Replaces Bryan Singer as Bohemian Rhapsody Director
Dec 7, 2017 by: WENN
Actor-turned-director Dexter Fletcher will replace Bryan Singer as the man in charge of the Freddie Mercury biopic.
Fletcher, who is also currently developing an Elton John movie, is expected to pick up where fired Singer left off on Monday.
The producers of Bohemian Rhapsody let the X-Men director go after he reportedly failed to return to the set in the U.K. after the Thanksgiving break.
Singer’s representatives claim he has been dealing with a health issue concerning his mother.
Reports also suggest Singer clashed with leading man Rami Malek on set, but the director's reps insist the two men had patched up their differences and were working together. Malek portrays Queen star Freddie in the film.
Fletcher, who directed the acclaimed films Eddie the Eagle and Wild Bill, will complete the final weeks of the production and then oversee post-production.
