Russell Brand Tackling Hitman Comedy Butterfingers
Feb 9, 2018 by: WENN
British funnyman Russell Brand is jumping into action as an embattled hitman for new comedy film Butterfingers.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star will portray Keith, a hired gun whose career mishaps have earned him the nickname Butterfingers, as he becomes embroiled in a race against a fellow assassin to complete a hit--all while dragging along two kidnapped children.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the independent movie will be directed by I, Anna filmmaker Barnaby Southcombe, the son of actors Charlotte Rampling and Bryan Southcombe, and will begin production in the U.K. in July.
The project will be shopped to distributors at Germany's Berlin Film Festival, which kicks off next week.
Butterfingers will be Brand's first big screen outing since 2016's Army of One, which was released shortly after he became a first-time father. The comedian welcomed daughter Mabel with his now-wife Laura Gallacher in November, 2016.
