LeBron James Developing House Party Reboot
Feb 14, 2018 by: WENN
Basketball star LeBron James is producing a new adaptation of cult classic House Party.
The Cleveland Cavaliers player will produce the project under his SpringHill Entertainment company, alongside his partner Maverick Carter, while Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori will write the screenplay.
The original 1990 film starred rap duo Kid 'n Play and spawned sequels in 1991 and 1994.
"This is definitely not a reboot. It's an entirely new look for a classic movie," James tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable."
James and his partners are currently seeking out musicians to be involved in the movie.
"We're trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project," Carter says, admitting he's hopeful James will make an appearance in the new film.
"There's no plan for it now, but he's a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in," he adds.
