Nov 16, 2017 by: WENN
Disney Pixar's latest movie Coco has become the biggest animated hit in Mexico.
A week before the film's U.S. release, the movie, featuring the voices of Benjamin Bratt and Gael Garcia Bernal, has shattered box office records in Mexico, where it was released on October 27--two days before the start of the local three-day Dia De Los Muertos holiday.
And Mexican movies experts claim the film is closing in on Marvel’s The Avengers as the nation's biggest release ever.
It has taken in 824 million pesos in 19 days. The Avengers grossed 827 million pesos during its entire run.
In the film, a 12-year-old boy travels to The Land of the Dead to meet his late ancestors in a bid to uncover the mystery behind the music ban in his family.
