Tommy Wiseau's The Room to Get Wide Release After The Disaster Artist

James Franco's critically-acclaimed biography about the making of director Tommy Wiseau's cult film The Room has helped the 2003 movie score its first ever wide release.

Franco's The Disaster Artist picked up two Golden Globe nominations last week as critics continue to heap praise on the comedic drama, which chronicles the making of the original film flop and stars the 127 Hours actor as Wiseau.

Now, Fathom Events officials are helping to get The Room into more than 500 theaters across the U.S. for a special one-off screening on January 10.

Wiseau took to Twitter to celebrate the news on Tuesday, writing, "14 1/2 years ! Never give up!"

The Room was made with a reported budget of $6 million but it was widely panned upon its initial release over a decade ago, and only grossed $1,800 at the box office.

However, the love triangle drama, which Wiseau directed and starred in alongside actor Greg Sestero, became an unlikely cult favorite, and has continued to enjoy late night showings worldwide.
