Boxer Florian Munteanu Lands Role in Creed 2

German-Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu has been cast as the villain in Creed 2.

Michael B. Jordan will reprise his role as Adonis Johnson, aka Adonis Creed, in the sequel, while Dolph Lundgren, who played Ivan Drago in Rocky IV will also be back.

Drago killed Creed's father, Apollo, in the ring in the 1985 movie. Munteanu will portray his son in the new film, which will be directed Steven Caple, Jr.

Tessa Thompson will also appear, reprising her role as Bianca.

The movie is slated to begin filming in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in March.

Sylvester Stallone has written the script with Cheo Hodari and will reprise his role as Creed's mentor, Rocky Balboa. The film will hit theaters in November.

Munteanu's casting is bad news for Ultimate Fighting Championship star Sage Northcutt, who campaigned hard to play Ivan Drago's tough guy son in the Creed sequel.

"The new Creed 2 movie is coming out so I was actually going to audition for that," he told MMAFighting.com last year. "(I've) got a little audition tape, so hopefully that goes through. That would be pretty neat. Being Ivan Drago's son in the movie? That would be pretty fun."
