Hilary Duff to Play Sharon Tate in New Horror Movie
Feb 7, 2018 by: WENN
Hilary Duff has signed on to portray murdered actress Sharon Tate in a new horror thriller.
The Haunting of Sharon Tate focuses on the days leading up to the murder of Roman Polanski's pregnant wife in 1969, and imagines her battling demons and ghosts, as well as members of the Manson Family cult, who stabbed her to death.
According to Deadline, the plot is inspired by a quote Tate made in an interview a year before her death, during which she she revealed her house was haunted and she feared she'd become the victim of a Satanic cult.
Charles Manson's followers, known as The Family, murdered Tate and her unborn son during a killing spree.
She was stabbed 16 times and the cult followers used the actress' blood to scrawl 'PIG' on the door of her Hollywood Hills home.
Duff's new Tate film will be directed by Daniel Farrands from his own script. The filmmaker recently completed his Amityville origin story The Amityville Murders.
The actress and singer isn't the only star circling a project surrounding Tate--Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to join her The Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in Charles Manson's upcoming film, which centers on the Manson Family murders.
