What is a pre-authorization? Am I being charged if my transaction didn’t go through?

When purchasing tickets, your credit card may be pre-authorized to verify funds are available for your purchase.

A pre-authorization is a temporary hold to verify funds are available when you place an order, but it does not result in a charge unless your transaction is successful. If your transaction is unsuccessful for any reason, your credit card may have pre-authorized the amount of the transaction, but it did not charge the transaction. Typically, this pre-authorization hold will lapse and be removed from your account in the normal course of your bank’s or financial institution’s process.

MovieTickets.com cannot remove pre-authorizations. If you need assistance removing a pre-authorization from your account, please contact your bank or financial institution.
