- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat combination of sci fi & horror with great acting, especially by John Goodman. The plot kept me guessing. Third time I've seen it.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars3.5 stars; I have to say this film really surprised me. I read the synopsis and was not really impressed. The plot sounded a little hokey, and I wasn't looking forward to a John Goodman performance. I couldn't have been more wrong on both counts. Goodman was totally authentic with his dark character portrayal, and the plot had so many twists and turns that it went beyond a sci-fi plot. The ending was totally shocking.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsIt really worked. although i watched without knowing about "Cloverfield" franchise. John Goodman is amazing in this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI am never impressed with movies in this genre anymore. THIS ONE WAS SPECIAL.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of my favorite sci-fi thrillers, and also a film I wouldn't reveal too many details, as to spoil the fabulous twists in plot throughout. Essentially, the movie plays out like a mystery for a good amount of running time: Is Howard the homeowner (Goodman) really telling the truth about what's going on outside the silo? Can Howard really be trusted? Are residents Michelle and Emmett going to discover anything that sheds light on that question? This is where the film really captivates in an attempt to get those answers, and by the time the truth is unveiled...KA-POW!! Such great entertainment from start to finish. A real Gem!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsJust fantastic! I even love the weird ending. Keeps you guessing throughout the movie with a lot of suspense Great acting. It's one of those movies you can watch again. A must see!!.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAll Time Classic. It has nothing to do with the characters from the first one. It's effectively a Halloween III, turning the series into an anthology shared universe. The shared themes are really the Sci-Fi setting but really it's about survival and horror/thriller elements rather than a set of characters like Star Wars or Harry Potter. A very daring, challenging, and new way to take a sequel like this. Really good acting. Emmet is solid, Michelle is excellent too and has a cool little arc I liked, but the best thing in this is Goodman. My goodness he's like a male Kathy Bates from Misery. He is truly fasinating, clever, funny, terrifying, and likeable even at times too. Seeing the three interact is one of the best things. Cinematography is excellent and really evokes Hitchcock style movies. It's a very visually heavy film despite having plenty of dialouge which is really good too to boot. The setting is super memorable, and the direction is really good. It knows when to not be showy and just focus on great character interactions in the most basic way and when to visually tell a story too. Really good music also that is used perfectly but I wish it was a bit more catchy on it's own. Big change from the first one but welcomed. Everything else is masterfully done. First rate thriller the entire way. The only issues I can see is really anything to do with the actual aliens which I don't think is a spoiler. It fits in the context of the universe, is well done, and while it can feel a bit tacked on which I get, I don't think it hurts anything really. Yeah this could've been standalone without that if you just replace it with a nuclear fallout or something but it's a pretty unique way to fit things as a whole I feel. Quite original at that. It reminds me of how people didn't like The Empire Strikes Back as much as the first because of how different it was from the first too with some people who love the original. One of the best sequels of the 21st Century. Everyone should give it a try once.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely love this film. Great performances and writing
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI think this film is a masterpiece, all of the aspects of this film work together like clockwork to create an incredibly concise and intense experience that keeps us on edge the entire time. It will be hard for J.J Abrams to top this one.
