I went with 3 1/2 stars for this movie, I was just going to give it 3 stars but I went with 3 1/2 stars because I would most likely reccomend this movie to others. I only seen it once, I'd watch it again but it is a really hard watch. I liked this movie, yes not that many well known actors and kinda low budget. I cried at the end of this movie, I also liked the movie about Nellie Bly that had Christina Ricci in it. I love that Nellie Bly fought to expose the injustice, She inspires me and I myself try to fight the good fight. This movie shows that mental health was not handeled well etc... Even today hospitals of the mental and medical can be unjust to patients. It has gotten somewhat better since Nellie Bly's time, but horors still happen within hospital walls it is really quite sad. Anyways... I went with 3 1/2 stars for this movie.

Bad CGI, bad acting, bad German accents...and Kelly LeBrock on screen for like 2 minutes. All of the ladies asylum costumes have these strange yellow "stains" on them which I think is supposed to be sweat stains? I'm pretty as ure the lead actress wears a cheap shake n' go wig the entire movie. The way the story is told makes the viewer think weeks, months have passed but as the title states, it's only been 10 days.

Despite the incredibly compelling source material and the best efforts of a very charming and competent lead actress (Caroline Barry), this film just isn't very good. Nellie Bly was an investigative reporter in the late 19th century who reported on the cruelty and degradation toward inmates at Blackwell's Island Insane Asylum. She was brave and intelligent and made a real difference in the treatment of the mentally ill. Unfortunately, this film does not live up to her legacy. It's as if the director ran off with most of the $12 million, leaving only the budget of a student film. Green screens poorly and ridiculously used; horrible stilted, awkward acting; amateur camera angles and camera cuts so quick during ordinary conversations as to induce nausea. There are a few compelling scenes and the overall concept made the film just watchable. Caroline Barry deserves praise for her performance, as I probably would have turned the film off after 10 minutes if not for her.

This was a high school play! Just Really Awful. From the acting, outfits, wigs and camara angles. Horrible. Such a beautiful True Story. Can We please make a real movie about this woman?

10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE is in the great tradition of Z-Movies. Its incompetence is matched only by the passion of its makers, people who clearly have no resources and no eye for filmmaking. However, that disparity between talent and ambition creates an aesthetic that is completely unique and oddly beautiful. I have to admit, as well, that the script is pretty solid, and allows a handful of impressive performances to shine through. Oh, and the title track, "Nellie Bly" by Paul Ellis is a.......fiercely educational gem.

"10 Days In A Madhouse" is a very in-depth look at the social problems that are absolutely universal for each era throughout the world. Bravo! Nellie Bly is played by a very good actress who carried the film like Matt Damon does "The Martian". Bravo! And bravo to the actress playing Nurse Grupe in the asylum - Wow! She was amazingly subtle and deep!

Grim, heartbreaking and powerful. “10 Days In A Madhouse” shows shocking reality from recent history through the eyes of a young, innocent and brave female reporter, Nellie Bly, who risked her life to make our world a better place. Timothy Hines and the cast of the film have obviously found the most potent way to tell this true story to the contemporary audience. And they respected Nellie Bly’s writings and stuck to the true story without having to “Hollywoodize” the story (like Argo). I want to see this again!

One of the best Female role Models ever. Nellie Bly is one of the top 100 Americans of all time. She risked her life to go undercover, for joseph Pulitzer. In this film she gets herself committed into a Madhouse and nearly doesn't get out. Caroline Barry is a rising new Star, Christopher Lambert --brilliant and charismatic

I enjoyed a lot, watching Nellie Bly trick everyone into thinking she was crazy. Then I had trouble watching the madhouse scenes. The nurses and staff were cruel and cold to the point of triggering me. Thank goodness for the ending for after seeing all that real life suffering - this is a true story - I was thankful to see Nellie Bly get out and her efforts make such great social change. I loved the ending and the Nellie Bly song.

Timothy Hines' engrossing period drama which is based on a true life incident. In 1887 the American reporter Nellie Bly, impressively portrayed by Caroline Barry, went undercover in New York City to report on a mental institution that was notoriously corrupt. All True. Every word of the movie directly from Nellie Bly's book. Nellie Bly selflessly sacrifices her mind body and soul in order to gain access inside the Blackwell's Island Lunatic Asylum for Women so she can bring the truth of the conditions to the people. This is not a section of her biography as one heinous "critic" obtusely assumed but a consummate translation from book to film that no one could have done better. An extremely engrossing adaptation of Bly's book and Barry performance of total dignity and complete conviction won me over completely. A fascination motion picture, one of the year's very favorite and highly recommended.
