1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture

Anyone who is at least slightly open-minded should be able to appreciate the revelation this movie exposes. I normally think of documentaries as boring. This one was not. It was very engaging as well as enlightening. I highly recommend it.

This 92-minute documentary offers today's American audiences a clearly defined, culturally relevant central premise presented with a wealth of contextual information and compelling evidence, and it manages to do so while remaining eminently relatable and keeping real people at the heart of the story. Both moving and informative, the film is a feast for the hearts and minds of viewers whose lives have been affected by what happens where cultural traditions and norms, the transmission and translation of sacred texts, religious faith formation, family relations, and social justice concerns intersect.

A well researched and calmly presented documentary on potentially very emotive subject. As someone with some years of theological training, I was impressed by the thoroughness of the research carried out.

This is a movie everyone needs to see to understand history more clearly.

For so long the truth has not been told about the most widely read and influential book in history. This movie brings to light the truth that must be told. So many lives have been tragically effected by the mistranslation and this movie will help to change lives going forward by bringing to light the truth and what should have actually been written. The movie is so very well done and takes you on the journey of finding the truth of what happened in the writing of the bible. Please go see this film, it is so very important.

This documentary is extremely well made, providing honest perspectives from varying view points. Whilst it wasn't the silver bullet I was hoping it would be, it wasn't far off. I was hoping for more details on original text and translations before 1946, but what was shared was extremely insightful and thought provoking. I was touched by the very personal stories these amazing humans shared and their discoveries were fascinating. The presentation was factual yet thoughtful, reconciliatory yet emotional, devastating yet hopeful. I recommend it for any group wrestling with the idea of inerrancy of the Bible.

It is such a compelling and personal story for us all, religious or none. Which reveals the falsity of one decision changing a culture. Its a must-see!
