"A Cat in Paris" is a good animated film. The animation style takes some getting used to. The animation is very distinct and stylized. They use very simple designs and shapes for the characters and backgrounds. But with those simple designs it permits the animators to create smooth and creative animation. The story is fairly straight-forward, simple and exciting enough to keep the kid's interest. There are a fair number of cliches and plot points that don't work. The villains have a lot of jokes and a lot of them don't land, but they were certainlly trying. The police in the story follow kids movie logic, but that is part of the charm. Some plot points come out of no where, and some characters make truly bizarre decisions. In the end, I had a good time with the film. I found the movie, charming, unique and fun. Much like a cat, at times hard to pin down, a little strange but certain to make some people very happy.

A Cat in Paris is thrilling, and a thrilling example of traditional ink and paint cartooning. Twentysomething caped-crusader fans may get a warmer buzz of nostalgia here than they will at The Dark Knight Rises.

You won't learn much from it if you've seen any movie ever, but with the heartwarming, charming relationship between the main characters, and the remotely funny villains, you will enjoy yourself with a rare piece of uniquely, art inspired animation. 4.3

This Oscar nominee for the best animated feature imagines a visually chic Paris and a satisfyingly diverting adventure of a bereaved reticent girl, her cat and a cat burglar in a game of cat and mouse with a mob boss and his accomplices with odd codenames.

"A Cat in Paris" becomes a simple animation in which its lightness leaves us free to think about. With a compelling screenplay, at no time the film becomes loutish. Unfortunately, his lack of climax and a concrete conflict is perceptible. Subtle.
