A Knight's Tale

There are worse crimes than crowd pleasing, but at least do it with some finesse.

Slightly edgy medieval tale with rock music.

Whipping along at speed, with elaborate camera movements and rousing speeches, this knows how to engage a crowd. It's corny, of course, but a guilty pleasure: romantic, diverting, with mildly amusing modern gags.

How nice then to discover one of the most refreshing and exuberantly entertaining films of the young summer season to come in a package that, at first glance, was hardly promising.

Minor grievances aside, this warped medieval yarn glides by on a funny, friendly, goofy sort of goodness.

The kind of silly feel-good popcorn movie that film critics generally enjoy ripping apart, and mainstream audiences generally just enjoy.

Its medieval tale offers some moments of heroism with Ledger as the town knight, but unfortunately the plot is hopelessly corny. [Full review in Spanish]

It's tremendous, infectious fun, with a rocking soundtrack, and everyone concerned enters into the spirit of it

If all you want to do tonight is watch something funny, exciting and deeply likeable, A Knight's Tale is a vintage gem.

An oddball comedy filled with surprising needle-drops.
