A Man of Reason

The script to “A Man of Reason” too often relies on bare-bone archetypes over deeply etched characters.

A very solid action film.

Brilliant though the action scenes are, shouldn’t one be watching them from the edge of one’s seat? You’ll be entertained. What you won’t be is transported, and that’s kind of the goal.

This thrill-free crime thriller is a dud.

A Man of Reason is an action thriller with little to no action or thrilling moments. You feel the star power and directing talent of Jung Woo-sung but with a story that doesn't connect it becomes an unnecessary mess of a movie.

“A Man of Reason” is simply bland. This formless appeal to visceral stimulation reveals an innate, naive clumsiness in Jung Woo-sung’s direction — perhaps signaling that the man is perhaps better-suited to simply being in front of the camera.

A thriller that’s slowed down by a disproportionate amount of laborious dramatic scenes that suck all the energy out of the more exciting parts of the film.

A lack of ambition and a very rote screenplay leaves A Man of Reason with little to truly admire or justify its inception.
