A Thousand and One
audience Reviews
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsa powerful, generational saga that expertly explores that which remains when everything else changes. some truly amazing performances as well.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI was disappointed. Inez did not learn from all her bad decisions. She was physically and verbally abusive to her husband and verbally abusive to Terry. Lucky was the best thing that ever happened to Terry and Inez. As she said "damaged people don't know how to love" She played the victim. Was Terry going to end up at an Ivy League school?? Probably not... because of the poor choices she had made. Had she come clean long ago, perhaps he would have a chance. As she said in the movie "maybe it was more for me than for you." I did not see selflessness but selfishness. She was also very aware of what was going on in the neighborhood. Why she would trust the landlord was very unrealistic. Selflessness would have been marching down to DSS and admitting everything and getting it all straightened out and getting him a birth certificate and a social security card no matter what it took.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved this movie! A testament to how people can come from difficult places and make a family.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI recently watched this movie only because Tiana Taylor was in it 😍 once I started watching it I couldn’t stop stopping! Very emotional It has several twist and extraordinary, surprising ending!!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsWhat a way to give birth to A.V. Rockwell's future as she wrote and directed one unconventional, clandestine mother-and-son story. Teyana Taylor led with so much motherly fierceness and passion. I love stories and filmmaking like this—heavily dependent on the writing with strong performances to personify. Reminded me so much of Moonlight.
