A comparison I used to give with these "Abbott and Costello Meet..." movies, is that they are like if they made a "Key and Peele Meet the Avengers" movie. Take a legendary comedy duo and combine it with the biggest film franchise of the time. But upon finishing this film entry, a better comparison would be Richard Pryor in Superman III. They are two elements that by themselves work perfectly fine, but together do not work. Abbott and Costello are comedy legends with some of the best comedic timing and timeless writing of all time. Likewise, the mummy can lead to some entertaining and spooky stories. But these two elements put together bring out the worst in the both. There are some funny elements in isolation. The pick and shovel routine is a highlight, and the random bits of acrobatics are very impressive. But none of these disjointed elements come together for the whole. The mummy likewise is pathetic. He gets very little screen time and seems to be dispatched quite easily by hitting him on the head with a shovel. This mummy is crummy.

The worst of The Abbott and Costello meet the monster films. There are even times in the film where Bud and Lou call each other by their real life names and not the names of the characters they play in the film (Pete and Freddie) What also makes this movie terrible is we only see The Mummy for probably a total time of 15 minutes.

If you already like the comedy of this classic duo, you will probably like Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy. It's the same schtick they'd been doing for decades, but they're in Egypt. There actually isn't very much mummy time in this mummy movie. Most of the story is the guys trying to avoid getting captured and/or killed by various characters. And yet I liked it. I laughed out loud a few times and smiled most of the way through it. It's not as strong as Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, but it's enjoyable. Though it's sad to think that this is one of their final films before they broke up.

While "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" is not a terrible movie, it is just OK for the most part. For me, "Hold That Ghost" remains the legendary comedy duo's magnum opus. I will say this 1955 comedy does have it's positive aspects. The production design is very impressive. The sets and costumes are quite good. Of course the late Bud Abbott and the late Lou Costello are nothing short of excellent as they usually are. They always have great chemistry on screen and their performances are consistently believable. One odd thing to note about the movie is that both Bud and Lou refer to each other by their real names in the movie but in the ending credits their character names are listed as Peter Patterson and Freddie Franklin. They are also helped by a very impressive supporting cast. Future television star the late Richard Deacon does a good job in the small role as Semu, leader of the Cult of Klaris. The late Marie Windsor is very good as villainess Madame Rontru. I don't give a very high recommendation to "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" but I will say it is an entertaining movie and something doo to pass the time with. If you do see it, I think you will be at least entertained.

This movie is closer to a Universal Mummy movie and it is to an Abbott and Costello comedy. While it's not bad compared to some of the other mummy sequels as a comedy of falls flat.

One of the last Abbott and Costello movies and you can tell because the jokes are stale and the main title characters don't meet until the final act

Classic Abbott and costello meeting the monsters films not the best but still a fun watch

There's some funny bits to be had, but this is a huge step down in quality. Much like most of the other Mummy entries, it's a bit of a drag, and Bud and Lou seem to be phoning it in by this point...

Another standard comedic crossover. It was okay.
