It may not cover much new ground for horror, but it was fun and had good casting.

**Review: *Abigail* (★★★☆☆)** *Abigail* had all the ingredients for something great—an insanely stacked cast, a fun concept, and some solid effects—but it just ended up being... decent. It’s a stylish, blood-soaked ride with some cool moments, but if you’re looking for real scares? Yeah, not happening. No jumps, no tension, just some mindless horror fun. That said, Alisha Weir *kills* it (pun intended). She’s got this eerie, mesmerizing presence that makes the movie work, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her. The humor lands pretty well, the action keeps things moving, and visually, it’s slick. But it’s missing that thick, unsettling atmosphere that makes a horror movie truly hit. Also, would’ve loved more backstory on Abigail and her father. So yeah, not bad, not great. Just exactly what you’d expect—a fun, bloody little horror flick that’s enjoyable enough for a night in.

I love vampire movies and this was just ok. I’m glad I wanted for it to show up on streaming and didn’t go to the show.

Fun, thrilling film. The addition of comedic relief makes this movie engaging even in sections that would otherwise be boring.

Loved the story and the acting. The cast was great, especially Dan Steven’s.

Pretty decent movie to be fair. Saw a few clips and gave it ago. Didn’t disappoint, thought it was a good movie throughout. I think the best part about this movie though was the casting. Every actor put on a bloody good show, especially Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir and Dan Steven’s. Hope to see them in another horror one day.

Personally, this movie was a trainwreck of a horror movie and vastly overrated. Very glad I did not spend any money to view.

I'm a fan of bad horror and bad thrillers this wishes it was either. It isn't scary, it isn't suspenseful. It's boring. It has a political message that highschool graduates will find facile.

A heist movie gone wrong, Abigail is almost two separate movies from start to finish. The beginning of this movie is bad — crappy dialogue, vapid characters, typical “pick off” in a house story. However, once Abigail (Alisha Weir) reveals her true nature, the plot improves and the violence augments exponentially. This becomes a bloody movie. The plot teases whether or not Joey (Melissa Barrera) is going to make it or not. The usual vampire features are here — albeit, these vampires are more akin to my preferred 30 Days of Night vamps than those out of the Twilight series — with the lovely addition of a “mind control” scene set to a Danzig song. Twenty to thirty minutes could’ve been shaved off the runtime and it would’ve been a better movie. Although the RT (83/85) seems way too high, Abigail definitely improves as the plot continues and is a welcome addition to the bloodier, more vicious, vampire subgenre.

I went in blind not knowing anything about it and it really worked for me. Quirky and unexpected with genuine thrills and scares.
