- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsPowerful, tragic, and intense. This is a must see film.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt was alright, bit boring
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsIt's not an M. Night Shyamalan film that's for sure. I mean, yeah, it depicts a true story and stuff but it's just so linear.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsClint Eastwood directs this riveting biopic of American sniper/super-soldier Chris Kyle, who had a minimum of 160 kills during the Iraq War. It's a love story as well, and both Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller do excellent work. You're sure to cry at the end. A must see.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsPowerful, emotional and very gritty. Directed to a tee by Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper excels as usual exceptionally well in character. Top class cinematography and writing. Succeeds in gripping you to the point where you can almost experience the settings physically. Outstanding on absolutely every level. Truly a memorable movie about a memorable man
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsHow Bradley Cooper didn't win the Best Actor and the film not winning Best Picture are both so far beyond me it's tragically funny.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis is a film that is showing the duality of a man's life. It is showing his life before the military, and then how his life develops throughout his tours in Iraq as a Navy Seal sniper. Throughout the movie you see all of the things that happened to him while he is over there, and all of the people he lost and how that affects him when he gets back to his wife and kids. Eventually you see his PTSD come into play, though he still chooses to fight for his country rather than retiring and not finishing his tours. You see the strain this choice takes on all of his relationships especially with his wife and it makes you question why he is doing this, and if it will all be worth it in the end. I think this is one of the best films ever put out to this day. I think this to be true, because it is so amazingly filmed and edited. But also because there is such a beautiful story and message behind it. I also greatly admire this film because it is based off a true story and is a tribute to a very real person who experienced these situations. You can tell they put so much effort and time into this film and were very close with detailing. They didn't just throw it together quickly and make it just any military movie, they really made sure the message was clear. They made sure that the emotions and tension were felt through every viewer, I've seen this film countless times, and every time I still cry at the ending because of how they filmed it with such grace, while also keeping the story as true as possible. There is also such a beautiful and heartwarming tribute at the very end of the movie for Christopher Kyle, who the movie is based off of.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsEverything that Clint Eastwood touches turns to gold. Another brilliant movie by the legend. Really well written and directed. Great story telling and a great mix of action and drama with likeable characters. Bradley Cooper was phenomenal. Another awesome war movie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA decade old and this is still the highest grossing war film of all time Definitely one of Bradley Cooper’s finest performances by director Clint Eastwood A terrific character study of Chris Kyle, the US Navy seal sniper with 160 confirmed enemy kills He falls in love with a woman Taya and has a child but the PTSD starts affecting him A close examination of heroism on the battlefield and on the home front It also works as a deconstruction of war and how we look at it With Kyle he’s willing to meet his creator soon and answer for every shot he takes defending his country during 4 tours He takes every opportunity to leave his family just to get behind a sniper having a savior complex although unable to save his fellow soldiers A disturbing level of patriotism and sense of duty lingers throughout Nobody every really knows what’s actually going on when all we do is just thank the soldiers for their service The evil gets blurred on several occasions and no one ever walks away with a clear state of mind leaving the battlefield No doubt this created a culture war with Kyle being viewed as jingoistic and immoral But it also showed how post traumatic stress can affect more people so heavily it takes more than one person
