Solid biopic of Ali Afshar, how we defected to American from Iran in the 80s to be not be killed in the war. Finding his way through adversity, he wrestled his way into the news and into the championships.

It was an inspiring story if you love an underdog story and the sport of Wrestling this film is a can't miss.

Like Karate Kid meets Vision Quest. Formulaic? Yes. Fun? Absolutely! I also personally connected a little more with the film I think because I grew up in a Northern California suburban neighborhood, played high school football, and was 1 in a tiny handful of Vietnamese kids in the whole area. My family also escaped the old country due to a war as well.

Best sport film ever!

One of my favorite movies ever. Tells the incredible true story of one who overcomes impossible obstacles to come out on top.

This sports drama was really good. Jon Voight, William Fichtner, George Kosturos, and the rest of the cast did an excellent job in this movie. This movie based on a true story was very dramatic and inspirational. It's about a high school teenager from Iran who tries out for the wrestling team to fit in and succeeds not only in making friends but in wrestling as well. It's a movie people should see. You'll love it.

American Wrestler features good performances and it’s a motivational movie it has a good message. Unfortunately like most sports underdog movies the movie is very predictable and has a TV movie quality feel. Don’t expect any surprises with this one. If you’re looking for a good motivational movie this will do the trick but it offers absolutely nothing new.

Acting is a little off but the movie was very entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your feet
