Anatomy of a Fall
audience Reviews
, 91% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe Best film of 2023. The best screenplay in years and one of the greatest performances ever by Sandra Huller. A great adult film.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsAlthough this is an intense and well-acted movie, it's surprising how much buzz it generated during awards season, as it's just another courtroom drama. Sure, it's got an impeccable screenplay with intricate dynamics, but it drags on the simple question of whether she killed her husband or not. The actors were amazing though, and played their roles so believably, even the dog deserved an Oscar.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsYes the film is well acted, yes the dialogue is good but nothing really happens. In the first 10 minutes you realise there's two ways the film can go and you're waiting for a twist, or a turn, but nothing. I like well acted family dramas, but it's no Kramer VS Kramer. It's too long, and boring
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWhat a film. So happy I stumbled upon this one rainy afternoon. I was mesmerised. Sublime acting w outstanding writing and direction. The scene towards the end where the court listens to the secretly recorded fight is so beautifully written & intellectual that it made me blush at how infantile some of the arguments I've had in previous relationships, I felt like a proper dummy. It's one of the best films I've seen in ages. It starts in English and swiftly moves into french but I could grasp most of it but did use the subtitles, it moves back & forth between languages. The young actor that plays the son is phenomenal, I barely breathed when he spoke in court, it was just beautiful and so haunting at the same time. For anyone that has experienced grief, breakdown of relationships etc it is a film you must see.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis film does have a slightly long run time, but it's genuinely hard to take your eyes off. It managed to maintain all of my attention, even after finishing all my popcorn, with over an hour left! 😂
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTotally brilliant, but intense and disturbing. There are few films which expose raw emotions in family relations so deeply and honestly. And there's a dog in it who also plays a not negligible part.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars2 hours too see what I knew when started the movie
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsAlthough I enjoy movies based on family drama, this one in particular did not please me. The movie is way too long and the story development too slow. There is really no need for it to be that long.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsShut off about 15 minutes in. Unless you speak French its terrible to watch because its 90% in French with no Sub-Titles and you have to guess what is happening.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTotally engaging unfeigned film making...a gem absolute
