Anora
audience Reviews
, 84% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsDefinitely not what I'd call Oscar-Worthy. And way too long. Anora was pretty funny/feisty though. Igor was my favorite character. But nothing I'd recommend or watch again.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsTRASH. When a society accepts TRASH as a if it's "good" and OKAY it becomes DEGENERATE. Yes, it's fine for people to choose their lifestyles, BUT ALSO TO REAP THE TRASH IT IS, or isn't. There SHOULD NOT be anything to glorify, but this ignorant society glorifies stupidity so that is what is gotten. TRASH MOVIE, TRASH VALUES
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI watched this because it was nominated for several awards … but I found it to be grossly overrated. A modern twist on Pretty Woman that, in my opinion, fell flat. It was decent for what it was, but the fact it won the best picture Oscar is an embarrassment
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsDeserving of its Oscar. The color grading is so good. Mickey Madison is such a baddie
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBaker rocks, Madison rules, the rest of the cast is a little over-the-top and the story is a little careful to avoid going truly dark
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe first third of the movie seemed no "deeper" than Flashdance or any other 80's "boy meets girl" movie but as the story progresses, the realism impresses. The awkwardness of trying to keep someone from leaving without touching them, the volume level increasing as people get more frustrated, the characters talking over each other as they argue (Hollywood thinks an argument is like a tennis game where people take turns and state their grievances in an orderly fashion)...All combined to pull me into the world of these characters. Great job by Sean Baker who did even more on Anora than Stallone did on Rocky...well, except acting. Hahaha
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI was told this movie was good, the ratings make it look good, I really forced myself to watch this entire thing after quitting half through on my first attempt ... WTF was this movie ?? The first half was literally soft core pron and the second half was just CONSTANT screaming and shouting. What was the lesson ?? an Immature hooker meets an Immature rich boy, the hooker didnt even learn anything by the end of the movie .. just No, no to all of this.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsNow I know why I haven't seen a best picture movie since the Artist and it will probably be many years before I see another best picture. This was a mediocre movie, I don't understand how it won an academy award. The plot was bad, at no point was there a twist that surprised me and award winning movie should have a complicated plot with a surprising twist. The characters were 1 dimensional and none of them were truly good. I was hoping this movie would say something profound about the life of a sex worker but all I came away with is I hope sex workers are smarter than that and don't fall into this trap. Immoral rich people are doing terrible things in America right now so I wasn't in the mood to see a movie where the immoral rich people won. The lead actress did do some difficult acting but it takes more than an angry actress to make me like a movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA very very good film. Mikey Madison is superb! As are the rest of the cast. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsOfficially, the Oscars are dead, if this is the kind of "performance" they deem worth Gold. Unless they rating her body-yes, she has a nice body, so if that was the case, I agree. I watched 30 minutes and did not laugh once, so I'm wondering what was supposed to be funny. Even the dud "Striptease" made me laugh a couple times. I can't imagine why this movie would be interesting to anyone except those interested in a porn movie, because that's basically what this is, with a mildly better plot than your average porno. This is seriously crap. I see some 5 star reviews here by audience members, but more than one was written by AI-and to write a positive review of this film, I think you'd have to use AI. Just sad what has happened to the cinematic landscape.
