audience Reviews
, 54% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI could not stop laughing (in a good way) during this entire film! Keri Russell and Jennifer Coolidge were magnificent!! JJ Feild was smoking as Henry Nobley.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI watched this because I'm a huge Keri Russell fan. The movie was cute, but could've been Way Better. The idea was smart. And I enjoyed the twist. Something was missing though, & it got a little too silly sometimes.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDon't be fooled by the terrible reviews. I couldn't stop laughing. This is such a funny, refreshing, clever and romantic movie!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMust see for Pride and Prejudice Fans, Gives you all the feels and some comedy . Loved it
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsIts premise is undoubtedly original, but Austenland's largely dull and repetitive humor keep it from being a worthwhile watch.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI am convinced that this comedic masterpiece goes over some of the other reviewers heads or perhaps the concept of humor alludes them all together. This is hilarious from start to finish. If you are a big fan of Jane Austen and the romance genre you will enjoy this movie and you will understand all of its tropes, cliches, and campiness for what it is. A satire. A must watch for any devoted romance fan who has seen all that the genre has offered us. This film was made for you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAmazing! Jane Austen fans must see!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis is my absolute favourite movie. I think the reason its ratings are so low is that a lot of people go into it expecting a period rom-com, or a much more serious film, when it's actually a secret third thing: a loving parody of period romances and romance novels, set in what is effectively a Pride and Prejudice LARP. While it pokes fun at the genre, it does so with a great deal of affection—satires based on derision are never actually fun, and this is quite the opposite. It's extremely silly, full of in-jokes and tropes for romance lovers, and makes no affectations of historical accuracy, which frankly only makes it funnier. Jennifer Coolidge, Ricky Whittle and Bret McKenzie are particularly hilarious. I also adore the soundtrack, which includes songs by the very under-appreciated artist Emmy the Great. Ignore the low ratings—for the genre-aware viewer, this is an absolute treat.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWithout a doubt my go-to comfort movie!! I laugh and swoon every time I watch this move and I've seen it at least 100 times! Jennifer and Georgia kill me this whole movie!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI was so pleasantly surprised by this movie. Very funny and refreshing. I loved it and have watched it twice in a month. It makes a change from all the trites that have come out in recent years.
